BTS appeared at Mexico’s National Palace on May 6, greeting thousands of fans from a balcony overlooking the Zócalo in Mexico City.
Mexican officials said the appearance followed a meeting between the group and President Claudia Sheinbaum. The announcement was made earlier the same day during the president’s morning briefing, prompting fans to gather in the central square.
The crowd included members of ARMY, BTS’ fan community, many of whom waited for hours outside the palace. Estimates placed attendance at about 50,000 people.
The members waved to fans from the balcony while standing near Sheinbaum. The brief public appearance came ahead of BTS’ scheduled concerts in Mexico City.
The group is set to perform at Estadio GNP Seguros on May 7, May 9 and May 10 as part of its Arirang world tour. The Mexico City dates follow the start of the tour in South Korea.
