Court filings show that a backing vocalist who worked on the track is alleging he was never properly compensated for his role in the recording. The song, performed by Wiz Khalifa and Charlie Puth, was released in 2015 as part of the soundtrack for the film Furious 7 and went on to become a global success.
The lawsuit, filed in federal court, names Warner Music Group and NBCUniversal as defendants. The plaintiff claims his vocal contributions were incorrectly classified in royalty and rights databases, which allegedly prevented him from receiving a share of income generated by sales, streaming, and licensing.
